How Hypnosis Can Help You Gain Weight

Being skinny and underweight can be really frustrating for those who really need to gain weight but just cannot do so.

In a society where so many people suffer from obesity and the perils of being overweight, all too little attention is given to those with the reverse problem. Yet being and feeling underweight and skinny can negatively impact not only on the individual's health, but also on their self esteem and confidence.

Hard gainers very often believe that it's their metabolism that's too speedy and that they simply burn up everything they eat or that they just don't manage to digest and absorb everything.

But -- with the exception of certain underlying medical conditions -- this is just not the case.
The real reason why a person is underweight is because he or she is just not taking in sufficient calories. 'Hard gainers' simply eat less than they need in order to increase weight.

Those who struggle with being underweight very often believe that they already eat a lot of food. But this is just not so. After all, the belief that you eat a lot of food is not the same thing as actually eating sufficient food for you to gain weight.

The simple fact is that metabolism and genetics really have little to do with healthy weight gain. Of course, there are obviously different body types, with the ectomorphic type usually identified as the one most naturally slim. But a person does not have to be genetically gifted or be highly athletic in order to gain weight in a healthy manner.

Of course, the ability to simply unwind and relax on a regular basis is crucial. The person who finds it hard to gain weight really needs to slow down and conserve energy.

What really matters when it comes to putting on weight are the psychological factors. And this includes not only the psychological approach to food and nutrition, but also the individual's personal perception of their body and of their potential.

If the subconscious mind is firmly convinced that the person is underweight, that he or she is skinny no matter what, then it will do whatever it can to ensure that this is the case.

The image that our own subconscious mind holds of ourselves and of our body image is what really determines our weight.

With the help of modern advanced hypnosis techniques it is possible to reach deep within the subconscious mind and change the self-image from that of a skinny underweight runt to that of a person with normal, healthy weight.
Once the internalized body image has been adjusted in a positive way, then the subconscious mind does its very best to ensure that that internalized image becomes a reality.

If you or someone you care about suffers from being underweight then do not despair.

With modern advanced hypnosis even the hardest gainer can put on the weight necessary to be truly healthy and feel really good about his or her body.

Your Cardio Workout Could Be Making You Gain Weight

The use of traditional cardio has developed the reputation that it burns fat. I'm here to tell you this isn't the case!

I appreciate and wholeheartedly agree that LOW intensity (>30%) WALKING will primarily burn fat. But when you think about it you are only burning energy 30% more than if you were at home or at work?! Not very productive is it? Why did you go to the gym? Walk OUTSIDE! It's nicer out there!

If you are serious about burning fat and developing the lean athletic look, go to the gym to TRAIN. Sorry ladies, but this also means staying out of the aerobics studio and away from the bums and tums toning classes. You have real work to do if you truly want to develop a lean and sexy feminine physique, and becoming a cardio queen and doing those aerobic classes and bums and tums classes at your local gym just don't cut it.

Low intensity exercise has two uses in my opinion. . active recovery (from an intense session) and performing everyday activity. Going to the gym to perform low intensity 1 hour+ long walks is inherently WRONG! Think about it. . . bothering to go to the gym to burn 30% more than if i was on the couch at home for an identical amount of time. . NO THANKS.

Long drawn out exercise is COUNTERPRODUCTIVE . . think about it logically, you train your body for endurance with long drawn out 'cardiovascular' exercise yea? To what effect? Your body does not know you are trying to lose bodyfat. . it only knows that you began walking three times a week and it wants to become efficient at doing it. It gets BETTER at doing that activity. . i.e. in a weeks time you will use less calories doing the same exercise.

Scary Huh?

You are essentially training your body to burn LESS FAT.
It's True!

You see your body stored that fat there for a reason, due to some poor nutritional habits and/or lack of physical activity and TRAINING. Low intensity exercises in the form of everyday activity is OK. It is more erratic and unpredictable than endurance activity. Doing the shopping and cleaning the house mowing the lawn and a physical job/hobby all count as physical activity as they are a mix of differing intensities and movements. Endurance exercises WILL burn fat, YES. . but as a result your body will actually store more so that you have fat for your next endurance activity!

Come on you know it makes sense!

If you knew you had 3 bills to pay: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7pm. . You would save in order to avoid getting into debt. You body does the same . . 'alright (you name) plans on performing a fat burning cardio workout 3 times per week. So I will keep storing fat so she can fuel these low intensity exercises. Your body is only doing as it's told, it thinks you need fat there so it stores it so you can perform the exercise next time. It's merely an adaptation to what you are doing!

Now here's the interesting part! When you perform high intensity exercise you primarily deplete GLYCOGEN stores. 'Glycogen' is 'muscle sugar' or a method which your body stores carbohydrates in your muscle. Interestingly enough you will burn minimal fat during the actual High Intensity exercise bout.

'WHAT? I thought you said you were going to show me how to burn fat '
Now listen up. . there is only one thing more precious to your body than your fat stores. . its your glycogen stores! Your body does not want to let go of them. . its like its 'piggy bank' its raw energy that it wants to keep and by performing high intensity exercises all the time and depleting this glycogen you are being a nuisance. In order to counteract this your body will do the unthinkable! It will actually begin to burn fat at higher intensities in order to PRESERVE your glycogen stores. A study done on male and female International level Judo competitors showed that following a training session (high intensity fighting average heart rate 80% + Max Heart Rate) they were primarily oxidising fat and not glycogen. Amazing! Their body adapted to the rigorous high intensity exercise and began to do the unthinkable and burn fat at increased intensities! You have turned your body into a fat burning machine!

Low intensity exercise makes you fat. High intensity activity burns FAT. End of story.

Menopause Weight Gain: What To Do About It

It is very common for women to gain weight around the time of menopause. For some women, it is the first time in their lives that they have found it hard to lose weight. For others who have struggled with their weight all their lives, it marks a time where controlling their weight becomes even more difficult.

The first thing to say is that menopause itself doesn't actually cause weight gain. The reason women gain weight around that time are:

1. Metabolisms slow as people get older. So for most people they gain weight as they get older.
2. As people get older, they accumulate more and more "bad" habits around eating and exercise. They tend to eat more and exercise less.

3. Before menopause women tend to carry their weight around their hips and thighs. Due to hormone changes at menopause, this changes so they start carrying weight around their stomach. This doesn't mean they've gained weight, but it just means the weight has "shifted". A lot of clients who come and see me complain that their favourite pair of jeans doesn't fit any more, which is a sign of this "shift".

So it's all very well learning that menopause weight gain is common, but what can you do about it?
Here's where the advice that you might have followed when you were younger is no longer as helpful.

For a start, while exercise is good for you for so many different reasons, as you get older, it becomes harder and harder for you to "cancel out" heavier eating with more exercise. I often hear stories from women who tell me that they go to the gym all the time, but it doesn't seem to be making a difference.

That's not unusual. It's to be expected. This doesn't mean you shouldn't exercise (heaven forbid), but it does mean that you can't rely on exercise alone. You have to change the amounts you eat.

Secondly, most women tell me that in their 20s and 30s they were able to lose weight quickly at times if they stuck to a fad diet for long enough. Sure, the diets were often unbearable and they gained weight as soon as they stopped them, but at least they worked. As you get older, these fad diets stop working like that. You can't get the 10 pound weight loss in a week that you might have got when you were 25.

Again, this isn't a bad thing. It's actually to your advantage. It means that instead of turning to unhealthy fad diets, you have to do something much more healthy and much more long-term focused.

And that brings me to the solution to losing weight for a woman who's gained weight at menopause. Here are 6 key steps:
1. Think long-term. Decide that rather than losing weight in a few days or weeks, you're going to focus on changing your habits, so that you lose weight for life.

2. Abandon all expectations about how fast you'll lose weight. This is really important. For clients who I see in their 50s, losing 1/2 to 1 pound a week is realistic and sustainable.

3. Keep a food diary. Writing down what you're eating is the best weight loss strategy ever.
4. Make small changes to your portion sizes. Don't cut them too much. Just start off by reducing them by 5% and see how it goes. Then try another 5%
5. Remove temptation from your environment. If you're always surrounded by food at home, you have to rely on self-control to stop eating. It's not a good strategy. Instead, remove all temptation from home. If you want tempting foods, you have to go out and get them.

6. No matter what happens, keep going. Most people fail to lose weight because they give up at the first sign of things not going to plan. That's the wrong approach. I often tell clients, "the only way you can fail at this is if you give up".

You can lose weight that you gain at menopause, but you're not going to do it following the same old plans. You need to take a long-term, sustainable approach, but the good news is, if you keep the right attitude, success is just around the corner.

Vow To Maintain Shape While Learning How To Gain Weight

After all, you want to gain healthy weight. Muscle will help you to reshape your body, or just to add those extra pounds on to your frame. The best way to gain weight fast, is to keep it simple. You have to take in more calories than you are burning, or you will lose weight. Remember that when you go to the gym. The more you workout to gain weight, can actually make you lose weight, if you don't make up the calories you expended.

You can say goodbye to your skinny body in no time. All you have to do is adjust your meal plans, and do some moderate exercise. Your diet should include vitamins, carbs, fibers and proteins. Keeping a Journal is a way of keeping track of the calories you intake, check the labels. If you are physically active, you have to eat a lot more food.

You can use foods to gain weight. Besides your main meals, you will have snack meals in between. The first meal of the day needs to be a nutritious one, with a bunch of carbs to give that boost of energy to get your day going. How about a tasty omelet with veggies and proteins. You can rotate your veggies with: Brussel sprouts, broccoli, baby spinach and mixed peppers. A great addition to the meal might be cottage cheese, with nuts like walnuts and almonds.

You may be asking: "How can I gain weight fast?". Simply stated: "Eat More Food". Try to eat every three hours. The foods that you eat for lunch and dinner should be heavy on calories. These could include nuts, olive oil, pasta and whole milk. Proteins such as chicken and fish are highly recommended, as are Protein Shakes. Make yourself a calorie laden Smoothie with a couple of scoops of Whey Protein. This is what makes you gain weight.

To gain weight and muscle at the same time, you will have to eat more, and work our harder. Lifting heavier weights will make your muscles grow. Doing more reps with light weights will give you more definition. Avoid heart disease, and eat the healthy fats, such as found in the essential oils, like Omega 3's. Eat a lot of fruits, drink fresh juices, smoothies and yogurt. Yogurt is good because it contains Probiotics, good for your gut.
Take notes on your progress. Your Journal will show you how you are doing. It is very motivating when you can see in black and white that you have added some weight, and will inspire you to keep working at gaining weight and muscle.

How To Gain Weight And Build Muscle Naturally

Have you spent a lot of your life being skinny? Are you fed up with it? Do you think you've tried everything there is to gain good amounts of weight and muscle? Well if you answered yes to any of the questions above then you should definitely read on because it's time to change. Whatever it is that your doing now it's not working trust me! If it was working you wouldn't be reading this article now would you? So listen to everything I've got to say on how to gain weight and make sure it registers with you, because if it doesn't your going to carry on being the same weight you have always been, and that isn't what you want...... right?
First of all, let's get down to the basics. There could be many reasons why you struggle to gain weight, but usually the one that is most apparent in people struggling to gain weight is genetics. This can be the bane of existence for anybody interested in bodybuilding and weight gain, but with the right information on diet and training it doesn't have to be.

Muscle Building and Weight Gain Diet
Like you, I'm a hardgainer so I have to eat more than other genetically gifted people to gain weight and build muscle. People who find it easy to gain weight and muscle have slow metabolisms and don't really need to eat as often or as much as we eat. So, to gain weight and build muscle you should be eating every 2 to 3 hours at least, and this doesn't mean just any food, oh no, there's no fast food, high carb, high sugar food involved, just plain natural-healthy food full of calories, proteins, and essential fats. Get a good diet plan set in stone first of all then you can work from there.

Getting the right diet can depend upon your current weight, height, age, sex, and lifestyle. This is because a rough caloric intake needs to be calculated, so that you can obtain weight gain. It's no good eating all that food for it not to be enough or for it to be to much, this is why it important to calculate your calorie intake compared to your weight, height, sex, as even eating a couple of 100 calories a day can effect the results you get.

The right training program
Training is not the most important aspect of bodybuilding, ask any bodybuilder that. It's your diet plan which is the most important, especially for hardgainers. This does not mean that you should just eat, eat, eat... Oh no, do that and your just going to gain excess fat. You really must get a good training plan set out as well, the usual amount of days training for someone that wants to gain weight and muscle is 1 day on 1 day off, so it's 3 split days training, with 2 days off for resting.

The training programs that hardgainers face have hardly any cardio whatsoever. Usually 5 mins warmup on a bike then some good solid weight training. A usual gym session for me lasts around 40 to 50 mins which is a long time in some peoples standards, some just do 30 mins then they're off. All you need to do is a good solid 30 mins of working to your limit every other day and you will see massive improvements when coupled with the right diet.

A good Bodybuilding Program
Getting the right program for bodybuilding and gaining weight is essential. They give you the information in easy to follow formats that will guide you all the way to your bodybuilding desires. This can serve really well if you are a beginner bodybuilder or if you need a step by step guide to get you on the right track. There are some fantastic programs out there, its' just a matter of finding the right one that will produce results for you.
Bodybuilding programs help you plan your diets and training program to a tee, so that you can reach your goals easier and much faster. There are also some bodybuilding programs that offer coaching programs with there ebooks, which are superb for a beginners in my eyes.

How To Gain Weight Naturally Without Expensive Supplements

How to gain weight naturally is not a new concept. People have been doing this successfully for a long time. But, technology has given everybody an edge that could hurt them more than help.

When you take drugs or other unnaturally substances to gain muscle weight, your body becomes dependent on these unhealthy chemicals to function. Once you stop taking those substances, your body will crave them. It is the same concept for the weight loss pills. Sure they have a purpose, but they are not miracle pills.

Using supplements is just that, a supplement. You do not need them to gain muscle or loss body fat. A proper diet and the correct training is all you need to get into shape. In fact, how to gain weight naturally all starts in the kitchen. Your diet is...

  • 50 percent when you are lifting to gain muscle mass and
  • 80 percent when you are trying to get ripped.
Foods To Eat To Gain Weight Is About Proper Choices
Everybody knows you need protein to gain muscle mass. But what do you think will be a better choice of protein, a lean broiled chicken breast or a breaded chicken nugget? Of course they both have protein but, the lean chicken has more clean protein without the added carbohydrates from the bread and the saturated fats. When you are trying to add muscle, you do not have to add fat as well. Try to stay away from...

  • Fast food
  • Candy
  • Pastries
  • Soda
These foods will interfere with your goals for muscle weight gain. In addition, be sure to stay away from processed foods. Most foods which are processed have a high amount of saturated fat and trans fat.

Techniques To Add Muscle Mass
The second part of how to gain weight naturally is during your workouts. It starts with your technique. One of the more effective techniques to put on muscle mass is performing descending sets.

The first step is to start out with a warm up set that you can do for about 10 to 12 reps. Just to get your muscles loose and blood flowing.

Next, load up the bar with the maximum amount of weight that you can do for about 6 reps. After you do your 6 reps or until failure, drop the weight. The amount of weight to drop all depends on how much you are lifting. A good starting point is to drop 10 to 20 percent of the weight. After a while, you will know what works best for you.

Then immediately after you drop the weight, without any rest continue until you can not do any more reps. Continue this drop sets until you have only the bar left.

Once you do your last set with the bar, your muscles should be pumped and the bar should feel as heavy as when you first started your exercise.

Now that you have some information on how to gain weight naturally, try this method of training and see what kind of results you get.

If you are not already incorporating High Intensity Interval Training in your workouts then, I recommend learning more about the hiit workout. Here is a URL which has more information...

Will Drinking Alcohol Make Me Gain Weight?

Many dieters cringe at the thought of giving up a Saturday night beer or margarita and thus many avoid asking out loud the question that is running through their mind: Will drinking make me gain weight? Do I have to totally give up alcohol to get in shape?

If you find yourself in the abovementioned category then much to your relief (or maybe chagrin) the answer to your question is similar to many other diet-related queries: everything in moderation.

Before we get into the specifics of alcohol consumption and weight gain, please note the following disclaimer: we will primarily be discussing alcohol consumption vis a vis weight management and are therefore not advocating for or against drinking, although it is true that alcohol generally does not have nutritional value (but then again neither is a piece of chocolate cake).

That being said, the truth about alcohol consumption is that in terms of weight management it isn't any different than any other excess calories like juices, desserts, or carbs. If you limit your alcohol intake, you won't gain weight from drinking. If you drink sugary cocktails and then eat cheeseburgers, you will gain weight. If you binge drink on a regular basis you will gain weight. If you drink to excess and cannot get the exercise you need, you will gain weight. From a caloric vantage point, alcohol can only make you gain as much weight as any other category of excess calories. If you regulate your drinking and keep it to a minimum (and combine this practice with a healthy diet and exercise) then you can enjoy your Saturday night beer or margarita with little guilt.

If you do enjoy drinking alcohol, then you need to make sure that you manage your drinking. This applies beyond weight management; whether or not you approve or disapprove of alcohol consumptions, almost nobody would agree that binge drinking/ heavy drinking is healthy for you. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (USA), light to moderate drinking is characterized as being no more than 14 drinks per week for men and 7 drinks per week for women. This should give you a good barometer to measure your diet drinking by.

Everything in moderation. Time and again this theme comes up in health issues, especially related to diet and exercise (however never apply this saying to smoking-there is never a time for moderate smoking!). Life should be enjoyable-some people love cake, others love beer, and yet others love potato chips. Unless you have a medical condition that prevents you from enjoying any things mentioned above, it is OK to indulge once in awhile. Just make sure that you don't stray too far down the road to overindulgence.
